Marketing translation and transcreation into Russian and English — Kether Translations

MARKETING TRANSLATION AND TRANSCREATION

«When literal translation
is the problem, not the solution»

Marketing translation and transcreation for Estonian brands reaching Russian- and English-speaking audiences.
Adaptation, not calque. Meaning carried across, not words swapped one-for-one.

19 years with PR agencies and direct clients have taught us this: marketing copy only works when the translation keeps the spirit of the original, not the letter.

01
WHO THIS PAGE IS FOR

If you’re running a brand, launching a campaign, adapting a landing page, translating a slogan — you know exactly what we mean. A good piece of marketing copy in the original can fall flat in translation if the translator works on the words instead of the meaning.

An «accurate» translation of a slogan is usually a dead slogan.

You come to us because you want your Russian and English to sound as if the campaign had been written in those languages to begin with — and you’re willing to pay a little more for copy that actually works.

02
WHAT WE DO

Two services with different logic, which we honestly separate in our pricing. You pay for what you need, not for a bundle.

Base service

Marketing translation

€16 / page

Press materials, brochures, websites, landing pages, email campaigns, social-media scripts. The same base rate as everything else we do — with the marketing register handled accordingly.

A separate product

Transcreation

€28–32 / page

Slogans, headlines, key advertising lines. We don’t translate a slogan; we rewrite it in the target language, keeping the emotional pull and cultural fit.

Tone adapted to the market

A Russian-speaking reader in Estonia isn’t the same as one in Russia or Latvia, and you address them differently. The English-speaking market isn’t uniform either: British and American tone differ. These are the nuances we work in.

Several options to choose from

For transcreation we send back key lines in two or three variants, with a note on what works where and why. The choice is yours; our job is to offer good options.

03
WHY US

1

Marketing is our specialism

More than half of what we translate is PR and marketing material (press releases, brochures, landing pages, advertising copy). Marketing texts aren’t a rare visitor for us — they’re a constant companion.

2

A separate transcreation tier

In Estonian translation bureaus, transcreation usually hides inside «regular translation». We separate it out honestly as its own service, so you pay the transcreation rate only where creative adaptation is genuinely needed — not on the whole text.

3

Listening for the emotional frequency

Marketing copy almost always rests on rhythm, repetition, wordplay and sometimes deliberate understatement. All of that is easy to lose in translation. We notice your stylistic moves — and we keep them.

04
TRANSLATION OR TRANSCREATION?

Marketing translation €16/page

A good fit when:

  • The text is informative: product description, promotion terms, specifications.
  • The tone is neutral, with no obvious wordplay or cultural references.
  • What matters is accurate transmission of content, not emotional effect.
Transcreation €28–32/page

You’ll need it when:

  • It’s a slogan, a campaign headline, a key line.
  • The original contains wordplay, rhyme, alliteration or a cultural reference.
  • A literal translation falls flat or simply doesn’t work in the target language.
  • The cost of getting it wrong is high: outdoor advertising, a cover, a product name.

05
A SHORT CASE

«An Estonian bank was preparing a slogan for a Russian-language advertising campaign. A literal translation of the Estonian original, while technically correct, was lifeless: it lacked rhythm and an emotional hook.

We offered three transcreation variants with different tones, from serious to playful. The client chose the middle one, which is what ended up running.

The cost of transcreating that one line: €32. The cost of running the wrong version across Tallinn on outdoor advertising would have been noticeably higher.»

SHOW US YOUR TEXT

It isn’t always obvious whether marketing translation will do or whether you need transcreation. Send us the material — we’ll look it over and tell you honestly which service we recommend for your task, and why.
